Good Points: A power house! Short under 36" can cycle pellets fast
Bad Points: Loud!! Not for backyard shooting
General comments: When I opened the box to my .22 caliber Sumatra 2500 Carbine I couldn't believe that a PCP Carbine so short could have such power and accuracy in a length less than 36 inches. The 16 inch Walther barrel sits on 2 air reservoirs with a capacity of 290 cc. They are supported by a forearm and stock that are made of Malaysian Pearl hardwood. The silver receiver features hunting scenes in graphic relief and is topped with a 3/8 dovetail scope rail. The repeating mechanism is a six shot revolving cylinder reminiscent of a western six shooter. The trigger adjustment is located under the cocking lever and with the supplied hex wrench that is adjustable down to a crisp 2lb two stage. The unique open sights are adjustable for height and windage, featuring a 2 aperture magnetic rear and a front sight elevation adjustment. After mounting the scope and charging the rifle to the handbook recommended 3000psi it's time for the Crony and group tests. The first shot out of the box was 865 fps, with supplied Eun-Jin 28.4 gr. pellets. As my group tests began the rifle settled down and speed and accuracy went up to the following figures. Sumatra 12 shots 1=965fps, 2=956fps, 3=939fps, 4=914fps, 5=902fps, 6-890fps, 7=883fps, 8=881fps, 9=849fps, 10=841fps, 11=835fps, and 12=825fps. I then tried a lighter pellet on low power using a 14gr Crosman premier pellet (you will need a chronograph for this). At the beginning I moved the power wheel to all the way down and found out where it would shoot at 900 fps. I shot it 18 times and the power ranged from 908fps to 889fps. After the 18shots I moved the wheel up one click and shot it 12 times from 908fps to 890fps. I also determined that you should get about 40+ shots at around 900fps. Pellets are easy to load. Just drop in backward from the front of the magazine. The Sumatra Carbine is an excellent choice for the all the around pre charged airgun. One thing that I noticed was that all types of pellets worked in the Sumatra and grouped well. I tried Eun Jins, Kodiak's, Premiers, JSB Predators, and JSB exact. My best grouping was with the Eun Jins, which shot a .694 group at 40 yards. I was very impressed with every thing the Sumatra carbine has to offer. In my opinion this is one of the best all around rifles out there for the price.
